General Description: Hatfield is seeking an experienced, dynamic and technically strong individual to lead and foster our growing environmental consulting operation in Calgary, Alberta. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the environmental consulting market of Western Canada through their specific technical expertise and related business development experience. The Manager of Environmental Services-Calgary will be responsible for: (i) managing a portfolio of projects related to environmental assessment, monitoring and permitting for projects in Alberta, northern Canada, and Saskatchewan; (ii) providing senior direction and support to marketing and business development activities related to the energy and infrastructure sectors in Western and Northern Canada; and (iii) managing the day-to-day operations of Hatfield?s Calgary office and coordinating and managing staff of environmental technicians and specialists.
Technical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage project teams within Hatfield for environmental assessment, monitoring and permitting projects under the requirements of local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations for energy and infrastructure projects, including: primary client contact; preparation and submission of all necessary design/report documents; meetings/presentations with/to clients and regulators/interest groups; scheduling; and budgets (development and tracking); providing technical guidance on environmental protection and environmental assessment, monitoring and permitting to clients.
- Participate in the development and implementation of marketing and business development activities related to the energy and infrastructure sectors, and lead the preparation of technical and financial proposals as required for current and prospective clients.
Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the office management and administration logistics, including scheduling of staff resources;
- Liaison with corporate senior managers and partners relating to financial and human resource management issues; and
- Ensure compliance of Hatfield?s Calgary office with Hatfield?s Health and Safety Management Plan, the law, and client health and safety protocols, as well as compliance with Hatfield?s Quality Management Plan and external requirements and regulations.
Competencies:
- Experienced at providing environmental inputs to energy projects and demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment;
- Demonstrated experience and success in marketing and business development;
- Experience with managing or leading stakeholder consultations;
- Experience and success in working in large, multi-disciplinary teams is essential;
- Aptitude and experience in management and administration is essential, including financial and human resource management;
- Have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead/mentor new and existing staff;
- Have excellent communication and problem-solving skills; and
- Interpersonal skills ? developing partnerships/networks with other stakeholders.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree in a relevant environmental discipline and a relevant professional designation in Alberta;
- A minimum of five years managing environmental components of energy or infrastructure projects at a senior level;
- A minimum of three years managing a portfolio of environmental assessment, monitoring, and permitting projects in the energy or infrastructure sectors;
- Familiarity with federal and provincial environmental regulatory and permitting requirements; and
- Experience operating in a dynamic consulting environment that requires leadership, flexibility and teamwork.
